Choir Auditions

Auditions will be held during the first week of classes, Monday, August 25, to Thursday, August 28. Further information will be provided in late summer. Please email david-puderbaugh@uiowa.edu with any questions. 

Campus Symphony Orchestra (CSO) Auditions

Students interested in auditioning for CSO (Campus Symphony Orchestra for non-majors) should email music-orchestra@uiowa.edu to schedule an audition.

University of Iowa Symphony Orchestra (UISO) Auditions

UISO Audition Process

Auditions for the University of Iowa Symphony Orchestra (UISO) will be held August 25–26, 2025. Auditions are required for all music majors. Advanced non-music majors are also encouraged to audition. Students not selected for UISO will be considered for placement in the Campus Symphony Orchestra.

Audition sign-up sheets will be distributed in early August. Please check back here.

Black Pop Music Ensemble Auditions

BPM auditions will take place during the first week of classes each semester, Wednesday evening 6-9 pm. Students must sign up for an audition time slot in person. 

Audition sign-up sheets and information packets (including audition instructions and location) will be available as of the Monday prior to the start of classes in the jazz studies area of the Voxman Music Building – 4th floor, on the very southeast corner of building.

University Band Auditions

Students may register for the University Band (MUS:3160:0003, 0-1 hour credit) without an audition and attend the first rehearsal. Rehearsals are from 6:30-8:00 p.m. on Monday (and occasional Wednesdays during the football season) during the fall semester, and 6:30-8:00 p.m. on Monday and Wednesday in the spring semester.
