Synopsis

The tale of Vincent Van Gogh is one that many are familiar with. His depleting mental health, the beautiful paintings that came from it, and a tragic end to his story—A man eventually putting an end to his sorrowful existence. But what if the ending to this tale wasn’t the one you always thought it was? This play offers a glimpse of what may have happened on that fateful starry night.

Stage Directions/ Planned Action

Character(s)

Notes

13-16 (Scene Three)

Not a fight, but a gun is present during this scene and is waved around onstage and is once pointed at other characters.

RENÉ,

BOY 1,

BOY 2

64-67 (Scene Ten) AND 67-68 (Scene Eleven)

This IS a fight scene. A character uses a gun to threaten another character before shooting him. Then, in the following scene, two characters physically fight each other in the aftermath.

RENÉ, VINCENT,

GASTON

60-62 (Scene Nine)

A character is physically violent and threatening toward two younger characters. A fight scene.

RENE, GASTON, MR. SECRÉTAN

This scene is likely to be removed or heavily edited, so there’s a chance it won’t be as violent, but I wanted to include it just in case!

Character(s)

Notes

26-28 (Scene Five)

Two characters are dancing/waltzing together intimately.

THEO and JOHANNA

A kiss or two is shared by two characters. They are a lovey-dovey couple in the scene.

THEO and JOHANNA

As changes develop in the script, there may be more intimate moments between these two. But nothing too drastic. I will update the changes as they are made!
