Synopsis

An exploration of kinship, commitment and recollection. Using non-linear etches in time and a series of shared moments, the story of a family and a childhood unfolds. A dramatic event grounds this vulnerable account. Through memory, witnessing and intimate encounters, And the Past Remains explores ideas of duty, devotion and belief.

Notices

*** Proposed casting for these roles is South Asian/Punjabi but people of any race/cultural background are encouraged to audition.

Some background in movement/dance may be helpful for the Teenager roles.

The Teenagers offer a dreamlike, visual, movement-based element that can play concurrently to Nav’s narration. Visuals may have nothing to do with the text but echo an emotion / an internal experience.

CW: Mentions of death, suicidal ideations, alcoholism, needles, sex, nudity
